PPA #307

Here I am again - third week in a row!  This weeks Pals Paper Arts challenge was a color one.  Create a card using three of Stampin' Up!'s beautiful colors:  Night of Navy, Pool Party and Real Red.  I wanted to do something that felt a bit patriotic (given that today is the 4th of July!) without being too specific to the holiday.  The result was this:

By layering the doilies in two different colors, I'm hoping it looks kind of like a pinwheel.  You know, that quintessential summer time parade staple.  You can't tell from the picture, but the pinwheel will spin.  Probably not in the breeze like what we're all used to, but you can turn those doilies rather easily thanks to a small washer (or two) behind that brad.  I was/am pretty proud of myself for coming up with that one!

I used the following Stampin' Up! products to create this card:

  • Card stock in Night of Navy, Real Red and Pool Party
  • Thoughtful Banners stamp set for the banner and the "celebrate" sentiment
  • Duet Banner punch, which can be purchased as a bundle with the Thoughtful Banners stamp set
  • Stampin' Dimensionals behind the banner
  • Classic Stampin' Pad in Real Red

In addition to the Stampin' Up! products, I used a non- Stampin' Up! thinlit die for the doilies... not sure where or when I got this, but I found it when I was re-organizing my craft room for the umpteenth time.  I also used a random, generic brad that I had purchased from Michael's during my pre-Stampin' Up! days.  And the unseen washers can be found at a hardware store near you.  Or my husband's workbench.  Whichever is easier.

I hope everyone has a safe, happy, and fun 4th of July!
